Cheerleader
So, shock of all shocks, being a new mom makes it hard to remember to blog.
An update: Ginny continues to grow and get cuter every day. She now fits into her fabulous "Future CMUer" cheerleading outfit. :)

We are heading off to Ontario for Christmas, a nice long visit, which I am very excited for. I love Christmas and it's Ginny's first one!
Currently, Paul is hard at work a big paper for school (due tomorrow), so I am trying not to talk to him as he writes, which is harder then I think it should be. Guinevere is playing on the floor, she loves her shakey rings and her squeeky elephant, though she has not yet learned how to squeek it. She has also mastered the art of yanking her soother from her mouth, but not really on purpose. She's often annoyed and surprised that she doesn't have a soother anymore when she does it.
So, life continues to be busy and good. That is all.

Daily Prayer
Paul and I have been following the blog Ironic Catholic for awhile now - she's a great and funny writer. She started a thing called "NaPraGoMo" - National Pray to God Month. It's a bit of a play on the "NaNoWriMo".
I really like the idea of taking an entire month and making sure to consciously pray every day (hopefully so that it will continue). When I started, I was looking up rosaries, because I've always like the idea of praying with a physical reminder. I don't, however, really like the prayers that go along with the Catholic rosary - the Hail Mary just doesn't impact me. So, I looked into it and found out there are other prayer beads, so I made myself some Anglican prayer beads and have been using them this November. You can choose whatever prayers you like for the beads, so they are ones that impact you.
It's great, I really love the ritual and impact of repeating prayers, and I get something new out of them every day.
These are the prayers I pray:
Cross (first time): In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Invitatory bead(first time):Oh Lord make haste to help me, Oh God make speed to save me
Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
Cruciforms (four beads): The Confession (Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought word and deed by what I have done and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart, I have not loved my neighbour as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me, that I may delight in your will and walk in your ways, in the glory of your name. Amen)
Weeks(seven beads between each cruciform): Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me, a sinner
Inventory(second time): The Lord’s Prayer
Cross(second time): I bless the Lord

Learning to Play
Ginny has started becoming more alert and focusing on things, and it's very cute!
Here's a (very grainy) video I made of her playing.

And a less grainy photo:

We also bought these fantastic flash cards for the wall beside her crib. They are alphabet cards with smart/geeky words to learn. Pictures of them are on our flickr site linked at the side.

Whoops.
So, I've learned my first lesson in parenting a newborn:
Saturday was my first morning alone with just me and Ginny. She was feeding pretty much every hour, but I was feeling pretty on top of things. I managed to have a shower and do a small load of laundry.
I did, however, make one tiny mistake. I decided to sterilize our two soothers by boiling them in a pot on the stove.
You can guess where this story ends. Jan is distracted by feeding her daughter and the result is this:

Melted soothers.
